It feels like so long ago, Jen and I worked together as servers at a well known Vancouver restaurant, while trying to build our careers. Mine, of course being wedding photography, and Jennifer, with Ocean 98.5 & Kiss 103.1 at Rogers Communications. During this time working together, it was amazing to watch as Glen and Jennifer’s loved bloomed into the amazing relationship they have now. Needless to say, when they asked me to be their wedding photographer for their beautiful Victoria BC wedding, I was ecstatic! It was such a pleasure getting closer to this fantastic couple through our road trips to Victoria for location scouting. The Victoria Golf Club was an amazing venue and the staff took every opportunity to look after their guests. Thank you so much Glen and Jennifer for choosing me to document your amazing Victoria BC wedding. I am so excited to be a part of your future success and growth together!
On a rainy fall day in October, I had the amazing opportunity of shooting a Michael and Nicole’s engagement photography session in Vancouver at Deep Cove. With our fingers crossed, hoping it wouldn’t rain, we headed out to for our engagement session. We chose Deep Cove because of the deep meaning it had in Michael and Nicole’s relationship. Michael and Nicole spent many date’s wandering the Deep cove, North Shore and sipping coffee at Honey’s Doughnuts.
Are you getting married in Vancouver? Who will be your Vancouver wedding photographer? Choosing the right photographer is one of the most important aspects of planning your wedding. Documenting the special moments in your life is an investment in your future. After all, once the cake has been eaten, the guests have all gone home and the dress is put away – what you will have left to remember on your special day is the photographs. This day only happens once in a lifetime so choose the right person to document it for you.
Here is a list of some of the things you should consider when choosing your Vancouver wedding photographer.
When selecting a wedding photographer you are selecting more than just a photographer for your wedding day. You are hiring a wedding photographer that will be with you, your family and your group all day on your wedding day. Personality is a huge part of the selection process and should not be overlooked or discounted in any way.
Your wedding photographer’s personality can set the tone for your entire wedding day and your bridal party. Ultimately it can impact your wedding photography altogether. You will more than likely be working with your wedding photographer for a year, or longer in some cases, by the time you factor in your engagement session and post wedding photography and albums.
While price is always a factor when selecting your Vancouver wedding photographer, it should not be the only thing that matters. All too often we hear horror stories from brides who made a decision for their wedding photography based purely on price. It turns out to be foolish in the end. When it’s all said and done, your wedding photography will be all you have to remember your wedding day.
//3 WEDDING ALBUMS
What will you do with all your images from your wedding photographer? Most people opt to place them in a beautifully designed wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you with. Don’t underestimate the importance of a wedding album from your wedding day. This is your first family heirloom and your one keepsake you will have forever to remember your Vancouver wedding.
When selecting a wedding photographer you should look for an album that best represents you and your new family. Wedding albums come in all shapes and sizes.
Questions you should ask your Vancouver wedding photographer
1) How many pages come in the wedding album?
2) How many images will be in the wedding album?
3) What leather options are available for my wedding album?
Something often overlooked when selecting a wedding photographer is the number of hours that will be offered during the coverage of your Vancouver wedding. Typically you will want your wedding photographer to be with you to document all the moments of your wedding day. After all, that’s what you are hiring them for. That being said, typical coverage requirements for your wedding day should be about 8-10 hours.
Be careful here. Some Vancouver wedding photographers offer cut-rate prices by offering you less than adequate wedding coverage for your day. These become hidden costs and once you realize it, it’s often too late.
//5 NUMBER OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
How many photographers will be at your event? Most events need at least two wedding photographers. This ensures that your wedding photographer is focused on working with your group and directing the day and allows the second wedding photographer to have coverage going on at the same time.
We find that by having two Vancouver wedding photographers at your event, your wedding photography needs can best be met all while ensuring that nothing gets missed from your big day.
